Local Beaches and Information

Porth Joke – Northwards

Spacious sands at Crantock, Fistral, Towan, Narrowcliff, Porth, Watergate and Mawgan Porth.

Porth Joke – Southwards

Long sandy stretches at Holywell, Perranporth and then on to St. Agnes, Porthtowan and Portreath. The latter three reduce dramatically at high tide.

North beyond Mawgan Porth

Six more excellent beaches at Porthcothan, Treyarnon, Constantine, Harlyn, Mother Ivey’s and Trevone. Next comes Padstow (St. Georges), The Camel Estuary and Betjeman Country of North Cornwall.

Europe’s finest beaches are here in Cornwall, have no doubts about that, but watch the tides and currents, and respect the Lifeguard’s advice.

Dogs on Beaches

Seasonal dog bans operate from Easter Day until 1st October. Local beaches affected are Tolcarne, Lusty Glaze, Porth and all Newquay Beaches.

Dog Friendly beaches are Porth Joke and the immediate bays and coves. Please do be careful not to lose your ‘best mate’ over the cliffs or down old mine shafts. Be assured, by using a lead at all times.

Chasing rabbits has been the cause of many sad losses, and letting dogs worry farmer’s livestock is unlawful.
